Bonus meal credits promotion: buy credits, get extra free

Meal credits let customers pay ahead and spend later on anything on your menu. A bonus credits promotion sweetens the deal for a limited time: "buy 100 credits, get 25 free". Customers stock up, you get cash in the bank before you cook, and they keep coming back to spend it.

Credits can be bought on their own, through a credits-based meal plan, or given by you, for example as an alternative to a refund. See How to add credits to a customer account.

Step 1: create the promotion

  1. Go to Discounts & Credits > Promotions and click New Promotion.
  2. Choose the BonusCreditsWithPurchase Promotion Type, give it a Public Display Name, set the Start Date and End Date, and click Add & Edit. The full promotion page opens.
  3. Tick Enabled, and add an Internal Description for your team if you like. The promotion works through your normal checkout, so you also need a live menu during its dates.
  4. Set the Minimum Purchase Amount, $1 or more. Your usual order minimums still apply.
  5. Set the Credits Bonus Percentage. At 25%, a purchase of 100 credits earns 25 bonus credits.
  6. Skip the gift card fields; those belong to the Bonus Gift Card promotion. Click Update.

Promotions come with the Promotions feature, listed under Active Features or Disabled Features on the Features page; we turn it on for your site.

Step 2: get the credits product ready

  1. Go to Meals > Meals and search for "credits". This finds the items in the CreditsPurchase category. Switch on Show Inactive meals if you do not see them.
  2. Meal Credits Top Up is your everyday, regular-price credits. End of Year Meal Credits Special is a ready-made example for a promotion.
  3. Edit the example directly, or open it and choose Duplicate & Edit at the bottom to work on a copy.
  4. Update the name and description. The example assumes a 25% bonus; if yours is different, update the text of each option under Customizations so it shows the right bonus, and double-check each option's price.
  5. Tick Active, plus Allow On Menu or Always On Menu. With Allow On Menu, remember to add the item to your menu too.
  6. Click Update, then open your order page and check the credits show the right options and prices.
