Other content: edit the words on your site
Almost every line of text on your site can be yours: the home page headline, the About page story, the call to action on the tip button, the note on the account page. Content > Other Content is the full list of that copy, in one place.
It needs the Admin Edit Content feature, listed on the Features page.
Page editor or Other Content?
- The page editor groups copy by page. Start there when you are working on one page.
- Other Content lists everything, including copy that is not tied to one page, such as the tip wording, the referral promo on the account page, and meal plan headings. Use it when you know what you are looking for.
Finding an item
- Type in the search box, for example "tips", "home" or "about".
- Filter by Active, and by Data Type: text, rich text, number, image, or a switch.
- Export to CSV downloads the list, handy for a full copy review.
Editing an item
Open the item. You see its name and when it was last updated, and an editor that fits the type:
- Text: one line, for a heading, a label or a button.
- Rich text: paragraphs with formatting and links. Text you paste from Word, Google Docs or an email loses its outside styling, so it matches your site.
- Number: a single number.
- Image: pick a picture from your Image Library.
- Switch: turn a piece of the page on or off.
Click Update to save. When an item has a Default Value, it is shown below the editor, and Use Default puts it back.
Your site picks up the change within seconds; refresh to see it.
Good habits
- Keep the voice consistent: read your home page, About page and order page one after another.
- Short beats long on buttons and headings.
- Review your copy each season. A "summer menu" line in November stands out.
