How to write a blog post

A blog brings people to your site from search, gives regulars a reason to come back, and tells the story behind your food. Your site has one built in. No extra tools, no extra login.

Turning on the blog

Go to Content > Pages and switch on the Blog page. Content > Blog then appears in the sidebar, and your blog lives at /blog on your site. See The page editor: your pages, links and navigation to add it to your header or footer.

Writing a post

  1. Go to Content > Blog and click New Blog Post.
  2. Enter the Title. The Slug, the last part of the post's web address, fills in from the title. Keep it short and clear, such as high-protein-meal-prep.
  3. Pick a Hero Image, the big picture at the top of the post and on the blog list. Upload it to your Image Library first. See How to add and manage images.
  4. Write the post under Post Content. The editor handles headings, bold, lists and links, and can drop images from your library into the text.
  5. Switch on Published and click Update.

The editor shows the post's address once it has a slug. Open it to see the post as customers do.

What readers see

  • The blog page lists your posts, newest first, each with its hero image, date, a short excerpt and a Read more link. Long lists get page numbers.
  • Each post has its own page with the hero image, the date, the full text and a link back to the blog.

Editing and unpublishing

Open the post from the list and click Edit. Change what you like and click Update. To take a post down without losing it, switch off Published.

Ideas that work

  • The story behind this week's menu, or a new dish.
  • Meet the chef, meet the team, a day in your kitchen.
  • A macro guide for your most popular meals.
  • How ordering, pickup and delivery work, in plain words.
  • Seasonal posts: holiday menus, back-to-school lunches, New Year reset.

Link each post to your order page. A reader who just read about a dish is ready to order it.
