How to add testimonials

Nothing sells a meal like a happy customer saying so. A testimonials page puts their words in front of every visitor who is deciding whether to try you.

Turning on the page

Go to Content > Pages and switch on the Testimonials page. Content > Testimonials then appears in the sidebar. Add the page to your navigation in The page editor: your pages, links and navigation.

Adding a testimonial

  1. Go to Content > Testimonials and click New Testimonial.
  2. Paste the customer's words.
  3. Add, if you like, the person's Name, their Location, a Date, and an Image. All three are optional.
  4. Switch on Published and click Update.

To hide one later, open it and switch Published off.

What visitors see

The page opens with a carousel of testimonials that customers can click through, followed by More Stories with the rest. A testimonial without an image gets a neat placeholder.

Your home page can also show a single testimonial of its own; that one is site copy. See Other content: edit the words on your site.

Getting great testimonials

  • Ask right after a good moment: a thank-you email, a note in the bag, a reply to a kind message.
  • Ask for permission, and ask how they want to be named. First name and town is a good default.
  • Short and specific beats long and general. "The chicken burrito bowl got me through finals week" beats "Great food!".
  • Mix it up: a busy parent, a gym regular, someone with a food allergy.
  • Only use a customer's photo with their permission.
