Menu Rotation: let your menus build themselves

If your menu repeats, whether the same one every week or a four-week cycle, you should not rebuild it by hand every week. Menu Rotation creates the next menu for you, names it, and can switch it on. You check it, tweak it if you like, and get on with cooking.

Turning it on

Enable with the Menu Auto Rotation toggle on the Features page. Then open Menus > Menu Rotation and click Edit Settings.

Pick a mode

  • Repeat Last Menu: each new menu is a copy of the most recent one. For a menu that stays the same week to week.
  • Rotate Base Menus: pick your Base Menus and put them in order with the arrows. The site works through them in turn: week A, week B, week C, back to A.

With Rotate Base Menus, the Source Preference decides what gets copied:

  • Always duplicate the original base menu: every cycle starts fresh from the base menu.
  • Duplicate the most recent menu of this type: tweaks you made last time come along.

Settings

  • Automatically activate newly rotated menus: the new menu is enabled and goes live on its dates. Leave it off if you want to review each one first.
  • Send email notification when rotation occurs: your team gets an email each time a menu is created.
  • Min Upcoming Menus: how many future menus the site keeps ready. At 2, there are always two menus waiting.
  • Min Days Before Rotation: the lead time, in days, for creating the next menu.

Automatic names

Give rotated menus tidy names with a Name Template (what your team sees) and a Public Name Template (what customers see). Tokens fill in for you:

  • {{weekNumber}}: the position in the cycle (1, 2, 3…). Week Cycle Length sets how many weeks a cycle has.
  • {{startDate}} and {{endDate}}: when ordering opens and closes.
  • {{nextMonday}}, and the other days through {{nextSunday}}: the first such day on or after the order cutoff, usually your delivery week.
  • {{month}}: the month name.

Add a date format after a colon. "Week of {{nextMonday:MMMM D}}" becomes "Week of March 9".

Click Save Changes.

Keeping an eye on it

  • Rotation Status shows when it last ran and which menu is next.
  • Upcoming Menus lists the menus waiting to go live.
  • Rotate Now creates the next menu straight away, handy before a holiday.
  • If something goes wrong, rotation pauses itself, the page shows Rotation Paused with the reason, and your team gets an email. Fix the cause, then click Unpause.

Staff and up can manage rotation.
