How to view and edit order minimums

An order minimum makes sure every order is worth firing up the kitchen, and every delivery is worth the drive. Set it once, and your site gently holds the checkout until the cart gets there.

The minimums you can set

  • Min Items Per Order: the fewest meals or items in one order. Handy if you cook in batches.
  • Min Amount Per Order: the smallest order total, in dollars.
  • Min Amount Per Order for Delivery: a higher bar for home delivery, so a single salad does not need its own trip.

Use one, a few, or all of them. Pickup and delivery can have different minimums, which is often the sweet spot: easy pickup for everyone, delivery for orders that make the trip worthwhile.

Changing a minimum

  1. Go to Manage Site > Settings.
  2. Find the minimum in the list. The page has no search box, so use your browser's find (Ctrl+F or Cmd+F) and type "min".
  3. Click Edit, enter the new number, and make sure Active is ticked.
  4. Click Update.

To switch a minimum off without losing the number, untick Active and click Update.

Minimums need a site publish to take effect. The page tells you when one is needed, the publish runs on our side, and a refresh afterwards shows the change. Changing settings needs the Manager role or higher. More in How to edit admin settings.

What your customers see

The order page shows the minimum up front, so nobody is surprised at checkout. Until the cart meets it, the page says so, for example "Minimum order of $40" or "minimum of 4 items is required", and checkout waits. Once they add that last meal, they are good to go.

Tips

  • Minimums and fees work well together: a minimum keeps small orders off the road, and a delivery fee covers the drive for the rest. See Fees: delivery fees and order fees.
  • Running a promotion? A "free delivery on orders over $75" discount code nudges customers to round up. See How to create discounts.
