How to add a discounted gift card

A discounted gift card is one that sells for less than it is worth: a $50 card for $45, say. It is one of the easiest promotions to run, because it costs you nothing until the card is spent, and the buyer often spends more than the card.

Creating one

  1. Go to Discounts & Credits > Voucher Options and click New Option.
  2. Give it a Public Name and a Public Description. Customers see both on your gift card page.
  3. Set the Purchase Amount, which is what the customer pays, and the Redemption Value, which is what the card is worth at checkout. Click Add & Edit.
  4. Choose an Expiration Type, tick Active, and click Update.

The option appears on your gift card page at once, next to any full-price cards you already sell. Take it down after the promotion by unticking Active.
