How to set your site banner message
A slim banner across the top of your site is the easiest way to tell every visitor something important: a holiday schedule, a new menu, a welcome discount. It shows on every page, on phones and computers alike.
Setting your message
- Go to Content > Banner.
- Under Banner Message, click Edit message.
- Write your announcement. Bold, italics and links all work, so "Use code welcome15 for 15% off your first order!" is fair game.
- Make sure Active is ticked, and click Update.
Back on the Banner page, a preview shows the message just as visitors will see it. Changes go live right away; refresh your site to admire your work.
Turning it off
Switch Active off on the Banner page to hide the message and keep the text for next time. Clear message empties it completely.
The message is also the Site Top Message setting on Manage Site > Settings, if you prefer to edit it there. See How to edit admin settings.
Tips
- Keep it to one short sentence. Nobody reads a banner paragraph.
- Change it with the seasons: "Order Thanksgiving trays by Nov 20" beats a message from last spring.
- Pair it with a discount code for a quick promotion. See How to create discounts.
