How to add a driver
A driver is a person with the Driver role. The role opens the delivery pages, the delivery confirmation page and the delivery reports, and nothing else. Your driver never sees payments, customers or menus.
Step 1: an account
The driver needs an account on your site, like any customer. Ask them to create one on the login page, or create it for them under Customers > New with their name, email and phone.
Step 2: the role
- Open them under Customers > Lookup / Manage.
- Under User Roles, click Edit Roles.
- Tick Driver and save.
They are signed out and back in with the new access. A manager or owner can do this. See How to manage admin users and roles.
Step 3: their first day
The driver logs in like any customer and goes to their account page. Under My Links they find Delivery Confirmation. Ask them to bookmark it on their phone. There they see the day's stops, message customers as they go, and mark orders completed. More in The prep and driver view: what your kitchen and drivers see. See Delivery confirmation: tell customers their order is on the way.
Drivers in routing
Delivery routing does not assign named drivers. You enter the Number of Drivers for the day, the optimizer builds that many routes, and it prints a route sheet per route, numbered Driver 1, Driver 2 and so on. Hand each sheet to a driver. See Delivery routing: the best route for every driver.
