Monthly meal plans: renewals and renewal settings
Not every customer wants to think about food every week. Monthly meal plans let them set it and forget it, and you decide exactly when each renewal happens: the day of the month and the time of day.
Monthly renewals
A plan can renew on a monthly interval. Your site's renewal rules are set up with you:
- Either every monthly renewal is standardized to one day of the month, from the 1st to the 28th.
- Or each plan stays on the day it started. A plan that started on the 29th, 30th or 31st renews on the last day of shorter months, then returns to its own day.
Renewal time of day
Renewals run at a set time of day in your site's timezone. The renewal job can run at any time; a plan becomes due when its date and time arrive. To change the day or the time for your site, message us. You can override the time on one plan from its edit page.
Renewals remaining
The Renewals Remaining commitment type counts renewals instead of finalized orders. For either commitment type you can choose what happens at the end: pause the plan or cancel it. Set it from the plan's edit page.
What customers can do
- Renew early from their account page. A notice tells them what will happen. Staff can also renew before the due window from the admin.
- Skip a week. The plan records who skipped, when, and which renewal.
- Start the next order early with New Plan Order on their account page, on plans that are not credits plans. If they already have an order for this plan on the current menu, the site tells them instead of making a second one.
- See what a products or package plan includes on their account page. While the plan has no open order, its card lists each meal and its count under Includes:.
Good to know
- A complimentary or pay-on-order renewal records no charge, because nothing was charged.
- Same-day and rapid retry attempts are handled safely, so a plan cannot renew twice.
- When a renewal is charged but makes no order of its own, because the plan already has an open order or the menu is not open for orders yet, the renewal email tells the customer why.
