How to edit your terms of service and privacy policy
Clear terms protect you and reassure your customers. Your site comes with standard terms and a privacy policy, and you can add the parts that are yours: how refunds work, what happens when someone misses a pickup, how gift cards and credits work.
Find it under Content > Terms of Service.
What is on the page
The top of the page links to your published terms at /terms-of-service, and to your privacy policy at /privacy-policy when that is a separate page. Open them to read what customers see.
Your site uses one of two layouts:
- One combined page. Standard terms and policies are written for you. You add your own text in two sections: TOS Refund Terms and TOS Additional Terms.
- Separate pages. You write the full text of each: TOS Custom for the terms, and Privacy Custom for the privacy policy.
Editing a section
- Tick Use Custom Content on the section. The editor opens.
- Write your text. The editor handles headings, bold, lists and links.
- Click Update.
A section without Use Custom Content uses the standard text. Untick it to go back to the standard text at any time.
When a change needs a site publish, the page tells you. The publish runs on our side; refresh afterwards to see your terms live.
What to put in your own terms
- Refunds and credits: when you refund, when you give credit instead, and how quickly. See How to refund a customer.
- Cancellations and cutoffs: until when a customer can change or cancel an order.
- Missed pickups and deliveries: what happens to food nobody collects.
- Gift cards and credits: whether they expire. See Stored value: gift card and credit balances, tax, and expiry.
- Meal plans: renewals, skips and how to cancel.
- Allergens: your kitchen and cross-contact statement. Point customers to the full ingredient and nutrition details you publish for each meal. See How to add nutrition fact documents to meals and Allergens and dietary filters: help customers find meals they can eat.
These are business terms, not legal advice. For anything you are unsure about, check with your own adviser.
